Yoostar Home Green Screen System [Put Yourself Into Your Favorite Movies or Weather Forecast]

You’ve probably seen the giant green screens that are used by Hollywood movie producers in all sorts of special effects shots. They essentially give the engineers the ability to place an actor into just about any environment without them actually having to be there in person. Not bad if you are shooting a scene on the surface of the moon. This type of movie magic was only available to the movie studios until now. Yoostar lets you bring the green screen concept into your own home so that you can put yourself into your favorite movies.

Using your PC or Mac and an available USB connection, Yoostar lets you be the star (See where they got the name, now?). The Yoostar kit contains a high-definition webcam, wireless remote, and 6×6-ft collapsible green screen. It also comes with some pretty slick software that makes the whole process a no-brainer. The software automatically takes out a character from a movie scene and drops your mug back in its place. It even gives you the scene’s lines in karaoke format so you can read along teleprompter style.

Included in the retail set are 14 classic entertainment scenes from movies like Rocky, The Terminator, and even Sesame Street. Each clip is between 1 and 2 minutes long, which, according to the makers of Yoostar, this is just about the comfort level of most aspiring green screen actors. The company has already secured rights to content from Paramount, Universal, MGM, Lionsgate and Warner Brothers and I’m sure more are on the way.

Because of copyright restrictions, Yoostar will only be available in the States for now. Launching in August of 2009, there are already plans to roll this out internationally.
