Following on from announcing its premium Vertex EX SSD range some two months ago, OCZ have now unveiled another Vertex Series SSD in the form of the OCZ Vertex Turbo SSD which OCZ bill as offering ‘best-in-class read and write speeds’ and which serve to ‘ramp up performance levels to new heights’.

The 2.5″ OCZ Vertex Turbo SSD range, which comes with 64MB of 180MHz onboard cache (up from the 166MHz of previous models), boasts up to 270MB/s read and up to 210MB/s write speeds – the aforementioned Vertex EX SSDs offer 260MB/s read and 210MB/s write, by way of comparison (so there’s ultimately not a great deal in it) – whilst boasting seek times of around 0.1ms, 2W power consumption during operation and 0.5W in standby, 1500G shock resistance and a MTBF rated at 1.5 million hours.

Available in 30GB, 60GB, 120GB and 250GB capacities, with each model offering differing read/write speeds – the above quoted speeds relate to the 250GB Vertex Turbo SSD whilst the 30GB model, by way of example, pulls in up to 240MB/s and 145MB/s read/write speeds respectively – OCZ Technology are yet to announce pricing across the new range or give any hint as to a specific date of availability.
