Other networks in the UK may had had the jump on T-Mobile of late what with O2, by way of example, exclusively offering the new iPhone 3GS and now having been confirmed as set to exclusively carry the Palm Pre, but T-Mobile can at least now boast that they have exclusivity with respect to the LG GT500 having now been confirmed as being the only UK network to carry the handset.

Admittedly, the LG GT500 isn’t quite on par with the likes of the iPhone 3GS or the Palm Pre and there’s few that would argue that the level of consumer interest will be anywhere near comparable but, nevertheless, it’s a scoop for T-Mobile and, understandably, they’re quite pleased with themselves.

“We are delighted to have the exclusive on the LG GT500,” said Daniel Meredith, T-Mobile UK’s head of handset and device marketing. “We expect its huge range of features will appeal to a wide audience, interested in both style and function. Music lovers will enjoy its top quality sound, and its high performance camera will not disappoint photo fans. Meanwhile, the T-Mobile internet on your phone service will ensure customers can stay connected.”

The LG GT500 comes with 3″ 240 x 400 resolution 262k color TFT touchscreen display, 3G 7.3Mbps HSDPA connectivity and, the undoubted star of the show, a 5 megapixel autofocus camera complete with LED flash capable of churning out photos at 2592 x 1944 pixels which, thanks to the LG GT500′s integrated GPS also offers geo-tagging functionality. This primary camera – there’s another front mounted camera to allow for 3G video calling – additionally packs in image stabilisation, face recognition with blink detection and smile shot, panoramic mode, et al. Yes, there’s no doubting that, first and foremost, the LG GT500 is a cameraphone.

Other features of note include GPS navigation with WisePilot, inbuilt DAP capabilities (there’s no FM tuner, incidentally) and on-board Wi-Fi wireless connectivity as well as Bluetooth with A2DP whilst, in terms of storage, there’s 60MB of capacity which can be bolstered with a microSD card.

The T-Mobile LG GT500, which offers a talktime of up to 5.8 hours and a standby time of up to 350 hours, is set to become available via T-Mobile imminently (ie., today) and will be available for free based on a 25GBP per month contractual agreement.
