Radiopaq, a company best known as the name behind the internet radio station bearing the same name, have introduced the Radiopaq Sound Jacket for iPod Nano 4th Gen which, Radiopaq claim, utilises Intelligent Audio technology to ’significantly improve the audio quality of MP3 music tracks’ offering up to 60% improved sound quality from your Nano.
Billed as serving as a Graphic Equalizer that continuously acts to adjust according to the music being played so as to offer dynamically enhanced audio performance, the Radiopaq Sound Jacket for iPod Nano 4th Gen, which, incidentally, draws power directly from your docked Nano resulting in up to 12 hours of continuous listening, is compatible with both headphones and ’standard’ iPod compatible docks (indicating that the device itself can be docked).
“The Sound Jacket marks an evolution in personal audio technology. The iPod has become virtually ubiquitous with many people only ever listening to music that has been converted into the MP3 format. This has resulted in listeners becoming used to the inferior, compressed quality and not realising they’re missing out on the full audio experience as intended by the musician,” said Prash Vadgama, Radiopaq President, who introduced the Radiopaq Sound Jacket for iPod Nano 4th Gen. “The Sound Jacket seeks to reverse this trend and allow people to enjoy music as it should be, rich and warm with an expanded sound stage. You won’t believe what your ears have been missing.”
Offering what’s termed as ‘extra warmth and bass’ as well as and expanded sound stage setting which serves to make your tracks ‘come alive’ the Radiopaq Sound Jacket is just becoming available in the UK and will set you back just shy of 70GBP which seems like a pretty big hit considering what you’re getting (we’re surprised, for example, that it’s not been developed to sever additionally as a reserve power pack).
Still, if you own a 4th Gen iPod Nano and improved audio quality is important to you there’s two choices; pay the asking price or ditch your iPod Nano and compressed digital file formats completely and pay considerably more for the true warmth of analogue sound (which will cost you considerably more).
