Nokia Android Phone Rumours, Nokia Responds

Over the course of the last few days there’s been a wealth of speculation hinting that Nokia are intending if not to wholly switch from their Symbian OS to Google’s Android OS to at least offer Android powered phones alongside Symbian handsets, but, judging by Nokia’s no-nonsense official response, these rumours are wholly untrue.
The UK’s Guardian initially reported that Nokia were set to turn to Google’s Android OS in what they referred to as ‘a strategic U-turn’ for the company in reportedly acting to develop a new touchscreen phone that would bypass Nokia’s Symbian OS in favour of Android – a move, the Guardian stated, which is spurred on by what they cited as being a ‘relatively muted’ response from consumers regarding the Symbian OS when compared with extremely positive responses to both Apple’s iPhone OS and the Android operating system.
At the time the Guardian reported Nokia’s apparent ‘strategic U-turn’ Nokia were yet to offer an official response but they have now, and it’s especially unequivocal in tone.
“Everyone knows that Symbian is our preferred platform for advanced mobile devices,” stated an unnamed Nokia spokesperson who added that there is “absolutely no truth to this whatsoever” concerning the Guardian’s report.
So, that’ll be a no then.
