Archos 9 UMPC US Release Confirmed

Last month Alex covered Archos’s latest foray into the world of UMPCs in the form of their 9″ touchscreen, Windows 7 touting Archos 9 Tablet UMPC and now, less than a month later, we can confirm that the Archos 9 UMPC is set to land stateside from this Fall (Archos have been no more specific than that at this juncture).
For those uninitiated with the Archos 9 the device, which measures in at 256mm x 134mm x 16mm, comes with a new 800/1200Mz Intel Atom Z515 CPU under its diminutive and distinctly sleek hood whilst additionally packing 1GB of RAM, a 120GB capacity hard drive and, of course (being that this is a UMPC and all) you can also factor in integrated 802.11b/g/n wireless connectivity – though the device also offers up Ethernet 10/100 connectivity should you want to go the cabled route.

In terms of the aforementioned 9″ touchscreen display you’re looking at a not too shabby 1024 x 600 resolution as well as a virtual keyboard whilst there’s also an onboard 1.3 megapixel webcam and integrated microphone (making this a great video capable mobile VoIP device) whilst, putting many a laptop/notebook to shame, you can also hook up Bluetooth enabled devices thanks to Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity being offered as standard. And, if you feel constricted by the 9″ touchscreen and you happen to be near a monitor hooking up the Archos 9 to an ancillary display couldn’t be easier due to VGA-out also being in evidence.
One thing we are still yet to establish, however, is whether the Archos 9 boasts multi-touch functionality. We’ve seem rumours that this is indeed the case but, as yet, we are still to gain official confirmation (but this does appear not to be the case).
There’s also no official word concerning the Archos 9′s US pricing but speculation suggests it’ll fall between $500 and $700 price points which sits about right with us.
