AVerMedia have now confirmed that their PCI-Express based AVerTVHD Duet Dual TV Tuner, which comes with onboard Over-the-Air (ATSC) and Unencrypted Digital Cable (ClearQAM) tuners, is now becoming available in the US.
Utilising the extra bandwidth offered by the PCIe bus as opposed to standard PCI, the AVerMedia AVerTVHD Duet Dual TV Tuner, which is certified for use with Windows Vista, as well as playing ball with XP Media Center and the up and coming Windows 7 OS, offers 1080i HD resolution is both 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios and, as one would expect, it’ll not only allow you to watch live TV broadcasts on your PC but will additionally allow you to pause and rewind live TV as well as record using its own TV Recording Scheduler and EPG.
Cleverly, apart from offering picture-in-picture functionality, as far as recording is concerned, it’ll happily record a differing channel to that being watched or, if you want to record two broadcasts simultaneously, it’ll do that too without even raising a sweat – all thanks to AVer’s bundled MediaCenter application.
Another interesting feature that’ll doubtless sway those interested in watching recorded TV on their iPod, cell phone, PMP or Sony PSP is the AVerTVHD Duet Dual TV Tuner’s ability to save recordings with H.264 encoding.
The not unimpressive AVerMedia AVerTVHD Duet Dual TV Tuner is rolling out across the US as of now and will set you back a mere (and highly impressive, given its capabilities) $70 or, if you want the PVR functionality offered courtesy of AVer’s MediaCenter application – and who wouldn’t? – just $90.
