HP have officially introduced their latest netbook, or ‘Mini PC’ as their press release refers to it in the form of the top-of-the-line HP Mini 5101 which is primarily being aimed at business users or, in HP’s words, ‘trend-savvy mobile professionals’.
Boasting a sturdy, lightweight anodized aluminium shell designed to enhance its durability and a 95% full size keyboard, the HP Mini 5101 netbook, which measures in at a decidedly compact 10.3″ x 7.09″ x 0.91″, comes with a 10.1″ 1024 x 600 resolution or HD 1366 x 768 16:9 aspect ratio display powered by integrated Intel GMA 950 graphics chipset whilst, in terms of main processor, the Mini 5101 comes with the usual suspect (aka standard netbook fair) under the hood – namely an 1.66GHz Atom N280 CPU – as well as 2GB RAM and a range of HDD options topping out at 320GB capacity or an 80GB or 128GB SSD.

As you’d expect from a netbook, the Mini 5101 comes with integral webcam (2 megapixel) whilst, in terms of connectivity, there’s 3 USB 2.0 ports, VGA, Ethernet and an integrated (SD/MMC) card reader whilst wireless connectivity is taken care of thanks to built-in Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n) which can be supplemented with optional Bluetooth and/or EVDO/HSPA WWAN. Additionall 4-cell and 6-cell battery packs are available, the latter offering up to a purported 8 hours of endurance.
“HP Mini PCs have no equal when it comes to industrial design, use of innovative materials and overall feature sets,” said Ted Clark, senior vice president and general manager, Notebook Global Business Unit, Personal Systems Group, HP. “The HP Mini 5101 is truly a work of art, a sophisticated companion PC crafted for the trend-savvy mobile professional who needs functionally, durability and style.”
The HP Mini 5101 is set to become available from July with pricing starting at around $450.
