Active Media, doubtless in a bid to hit back at the likes of the newly announced Transcend SSD25D and WD SiliconDrive III SSDs, have announced their new SATA II 2.5″ Predator GT SSDs which offer enhanced data transfer speeds and reduced power consumption levels than their predecessors and which are billed as being ‘ideal as a boot drive for high performance laptops and desktops alike’.
The new Active Media Predator GT SSDs, which will slot neatly into 3.5″ drive bays as well as 2.5″ bays thanks to being supplied with adapter brackets, come with new 8 channel controllers, 128MB of SDRAM cache and offer sustained read speeds of 220MB/s, sustained write speeds of 200MB/s and access times of just 0.1ms and are priced at just under $200 for the 64GB Predator GT SSD and $370 for the 128GB Predator GT SSD which is pretty competitive in terms of price point.
