Touted As 'World's First Web Connected Home Printer'

HP have confirmed that they are to add to their Photosmart range of printers with their HP Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web AIO printer which HP bill as being ‘the world’s first Web connected home printer’ that’s ‘powered by touch and empowered by the Web’.

Boasting a 4.33″ captive touchscreen interface known as Touchsmart Web, the HP Photosmart Premium AIO printer utilises web based applications courtesy of HTML5 and Java widgets giving access to Google (inc. Google Maps), DreamWorks Animation, Fandango, Coupons.com and even the likes of Web Sudoku for printing puzzles as well as Snapfish – the latter allowing end users to print photos directly from the Snapfish site without PC intervention.

As web as offering access to web based applications via widgets, the ENERGY STAR-qualified HP Photosmart Premium offers all you’d expect from an AIO printer such as print, fax, copy and scanning functionality as well as ‘lab-quality’ photo printing (including borderless 4″ x 6″ prints) whilst also offering Wi-Fi and Bluetooth based connectivity to appropriately enabled devices such as cell phones, PDAs and, yes, the iPhone and iPod Touch get their all too honourable mention as well.

Offering up to 4800 x 1200 dpi black copying with 1200dpi scans and 4800dpi color copying at up to 33 copies-per-minute in black and up to 32 cpm in color, the highly versatile HP Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web AIO printer is set to commence shipping in north America from September with a $400 price point.
