Following on from covering Super Talent’s new MasterDrive SX SSD Series, Transcend have also announced a new SSD, namely the Transcend SSD25D 2.5″ SSD, which offers up 64MB of integrated DRAM cache and which comes in 60GB and 120GB capabilities.

Offering sustained transfer speeds of up to 230MB/s read and 180MB/s write and around 1ms latency the newly announced SATA II Transcend SSD25D 2.5″ SSDs are aimed primarily at those looking to upgrade high-end gaming systems and workstations whilst being touted as being ideal for use with Windows 7.

Transcend have, however, not been quite as forthcoming as Super Talent concerning specifics such as shock/vibration resistance ratings though they do make considerable mention of their new SSD25D SSD’s ruggedness (but, in all honesty, any SSD vendor can cite ruggedness as a selling point merely due to the nature of SSD drives employing no moving parts).

There’s no word from Transcend as at the time of writing concerning unit pricing for either the 60GB SSD25D or the 120GB SSD25D.
