DS/DSi Video Player Flashcart with Hardware Decoding

If you’re looking to play media files on your Nintendo DS/DSi you already have options available to you but, if you can do without having to convert media files prior to playing them using your DS/DSi, then the newly announced Nintendo DS/DSi iPlayer Media Player could be exactly what you’re looking for.

Sharing the same name as the BBC’s iPlayer online application, the Nintendo DS/DSi iPlayer comes in the format of a DS Flashcart, and where this particular DS/DSi media player excels – and where it certainly distinguishes itself – is the fact that it comes with an onboard CPU and RAM facilitating on the fly decoding of media files allowing you to wholly circumvent separate decoding to DPG video format, for example, via a separate PC based application prior to being able to watch videos on your DS/DSi.

Supporting DivX, Xvid, Quicktime, Windows Media video, Realmedia, MPEG, ASF, VOB and FLV file formats, the Nintendo DS/DSi iPlayer has already been given the hands on treatment by GBAtemp who are pretty impressed with what they’ve seen – those interested in reading up on their impressions can do so via the link provided below.

There’s no official word concerning either a release date or pricing as at the time of writing, but the Nintendo DS/DSi iPlayer is purportedly set to become available within the next few months (sorry we cannot be more specific).
