HP have upgraded their thin and light Pavilion dv2z laptop series to incorporate AMD’s new single- or dual-core Athlon Neo X2 and Turion Neo X2 dual-core processors. The base model of the new Pavilion dv2z features the same 12.1″ 1280×800 display, runs on a 1.6GHz Athlon Neo MV-40, has ATI’s Radeon X1250 integrated graphics, 1GB of RAM, 250GB hard drive, Wireless connectivity, Windows Vista Home Basic x86 and a 6-cell battery. All these starting from $599.99.

But the dv2z can also add the new Athlon Neo X2 L335 processor for an extra $25 or the Turion Neo X2 L625 for $75. You can also add an ATI Radeon HD 3410 dedicated graphics card for $80 more. Of course you can also add a Blu-ray drive, WWAN (Wireless Wide Area Network) for Verizon, Sprint or AT&T or a built-in 3G modem, but these will cost extra, too.
Available in Espresso Black and Moonlight White (if you can afford a $25 price premium), the new HP Pavilion dv2z with AMD Neo Athlon/Turion chips can now be configured to order from HP Direct.
