Those who never seem to have enough storage space should be happy to know that Western Digital have just introduced their Digital My Book Studio Edition II external hard drive with a 4 TB capacity. A dual-drive device that includes a pair of 2TB HDDs set up in a RAID 0 configuration, it’s the world’s first 4TB external HDD.
Designed to seamlessly work on both PCs and Mac computers, the new 4 TB My Book Studio Edition II featuress FireWire 400/800, eSATA and USB 2.0 interfaces for extra-fast performances and ultimate flexibility. But the most intriguing thing is that the new drive has been formatted specifically for Macs, but of course Windows users can reformat for Vista and Windows 7 — XP does not support drives over the 2TB ceiling.
Utilizing WD’s GreenPower technology for a quiet, cool operation and also compatible with the Apple Time Machine automatic backup feature (another bonus for Apple users), the new 4 TB My Book Studio Edition II external hdd is already available on the company’s website, and will set you back $649.99.
