LaCie LaCinema Classic Bridge Media Player

We posted only last week concerning LaCie’s latest LaCinema Black HD players/streamers – see: LaCie LaCinema Black Series Updated [LaCie LaCinema PLAY/ LaCinema RECORD] – and now LaCie have added yet another LaCinema device to their range in the form of the LaCie LaCinema Classic Bridge which, unlike the aforementioned devices, is supplied sans hard disk.
Offered up as being the foundation from which you can build you own media player, the LaCie LaCinema Classic Bridge can be hooked up to an external USB hard disk or you can simply insert a 3.5″ SATA HDD yourself (5400rpm recommended, formatted with Fat32) and you’re done.

The LaCie LaCinema Classic Bridge, which is primarily intended to turn any existing internal and external hard disks into ‘dynamic media servers’ (though, as indicated previously, you could just opt to buy a HDD with view to setting the device up) will happily stream 1080p HD video content as well as MPEG4, MP3, WMA, JPEG and HD-JPEG file formats and, as well as offing HDMI connectivity supporting 1080p unscaling of SD content, also comes with Composite video and, from an audio perspective, both stereo L/R and digital coaxial SPDIF.
The LaCie LaCinema Classic Bridge media player is set to retail at just shy of $100 though, as at the time of writing, LaCie are yet to announce a date of availability.
