Panasonic Lets Note F8 Notebook [WiMax F8 Notebook Boasts Waterproof Design]

Having just posted about the Toshiba Dynabook SS RX2/WAJ notebook with integrated WiMax connectivity, we follow up – in a bid to show there is, at least sometimes, some sense of continuity here at TFTS – with the WiMax enabled Panasonic Lets Note F8 notebook which, unlike the aforementioned Dynabook, also brings a waterproof design to the table.

The WiMax enabled Panasonic Lets Note F8 notebook sports a 14.1″ WXGA (1440 x 900 resolution) TFT display, 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SP9300. Intel GS44 Express chipset and 2GB onboard RAM – which can be extended up to a maximum of 3GB – as well as 500GB hard disk and, of course, IEEE802.16e wireless connectivity.

Apart from boasting WiMax connectivity, the Panasonic Lets Note F8 notebook is also notable in offering a high degree of shock protection as well as built-in carry handle (meaning you can, if you wish, dispense with your notebook bag whilst in transit). Agreed, it’s hardly a major selling point – but it’s a handy design feature none the less.

The WiMax enabled Panasonic Lets Note F8 notebook, which runs MS Vista/Vista Business, like the aforementioned Dynabook, appears to be set (initially at least) for the Japanese market only though, at this juncture, Panasonic are yet to confirm unit pricing when the Lets Note F8 commences shipping at the end of next month (interestingly at the same time as the Toshiba Dynabook).

It’ll be interesting, considering that the Panasonic Lets Note F8 and the Toshiba Dynabook SS RX2/WAJ are obviously set to go head to head, which comes out on top being that the WiMax enabled Dynabook comes with SSD as standard but, accordingly, at a somewhat steep price point.
