Panasonic KX-VC500 HD Video Conferencing System

If you’re looking for something a little more full blown than the video conferencing capabilities offered by the likes of Skype (et al) the newly announced Panasonic KX-VC500 HD Video Conferencing System may be of interest as it’ll allow you to gain Full HD video hook-ups with other parties (on the premise that they also own the KX-VC500, naturally).
Offering 20kHz full-duplex voice communications as well as up to 8Mb/s throughput, the Panasonic KX-VC500 HD Video Conferencing System offers up H.264 video and MPEG-4 AAC LD audio support and HDMI connectivity allowing the device to output to HDTV units at 1920 x 1080 resolution.
Aimed, it would appear, more at business and education sectors, the Panasonic KX-VC500 comes sans camera – you’ll have to connect your own HD video camera – and, whilst Panasonic are remaining pretty tight-lipped concerning its full features and specifications, as well as unit pricing, they have at least confirmed that the KX-VC500 is set to drop in Japan from 1st October.
There’s no word as at the time of writing as to whether the KX-VC500 will see further international rollouts.
