We’ve featured a number of Mio Moov PND previously on TFTS – namely the Moov S401 & S501 and Moov S300, S500, S556 and S700 – and now Mio have announced two more devices in their ever expanding range of PNDs in the form of the Mio Moov V500 and the Mio Moov V700 which boast additional digital TV (DVB-T) capabilities.
Both the Moov V500 and Moov 700 are powered by 600MHz CPUs and run the same Spirit software featured on previous Moov PNDs whilst packing in 1GB ROM and 128MB RAM – the latter of which can be supplemented thanks to microSD card slots – and featuring 4.7″ 480 x 272 resolution and 7″ 800 x 480 pixel displays respectively.
“The development of digital TV is already very mature worldwide, but so far the market demands for mobile TV solutions have still to be fulfilled,” said Steve Chang, Vice President of Mio Technology Corp who introduced the company’s new Moov PNDs. “Building on Mio’s success of delivering popular PNDs with TV and entertainment capabilities, the new Moov V500 and V700 are the first of its kind to offer the perfect combination of professional navigation and rich digital TV content at an affordable price.”
Naturally, as well as offering DVB-T support, both devices also offer broad multimedia support allowing users to watch movies, listen to digital audio and display digital imagery as well as, from a navigational perspective, offering TruMap Views with 3D signposts and turn indicators and Lane Guidance functionality as well as boasting support of geo-encoded Flickr images (great for accessing possible points of interest).
There’s no word from Mio as at the time of writing concerning unit pricing of either the Moov V500 and Moov 700, however, they have confirmed that both of their new DVB-T enabled Moov PNDs are set for Q3 availability.
