With FireWire 800 or FireWire 400 ports

In a market where portable external drives have become more and more popular, OWC (Other World Computing) have just release their Mercury models. Dubbed “On-The-Go Pro”, the bus-powered mobile drives are the fastest (up to 100 MB/sec) and the highest capacity (up to 500 GB of storage) the company ever built. Capable of working on both PCs and Macs, the drives run at 5,400 and 7,200 rpm and have 16MB of cache.

Available with a USB 2.0 port ($190), FireWire 400 interface ($220) or FireWire 800 ($240), the OWC Mercury On-The-Go Pro drives are wrapped in a see-through acrylic enclosure (that probably protcts it from any hits or crashes), weigh in at 2.5 lbs and only measure 3.5 x 5.5 x 1-inches.

Doesn’t look like a bad deal, eh?
