Apple to Reduce Prices to Fight Netbooks

The laptop market has been taken over by netbooks these days mainly because people are looking for sleek, lightweight travel companions that come in cheap. And Apple knows that! Hence why rumors have it that the Cupertino-based company is going to slash prices for their MacBook Air, while also extending its feature set. Unnamed sources for SiliconRumors said that a feature-rich Air model is expected to be priced somewhere between $1,300 and $1,500.
Obviously far from the $400 prices we’ve been used with, the new Air is still way down from $1,800. And if you consider that it could integrate 3G support, built-in GPS and with everything stored on SSDs, it may not be such a bad deal afterall.
With a phylosophy for high-end products, it’s quite interesting to see if Apple is going to come up with an entry-level model just to make the market happy. It’s going to be an interesting game to watch, don’t you think?
