Motorola A1200R Smartphone Announced

Motorola have taken the wraps off their new Motorola A1200R smartphone which serves to follow up the company’s success with their A1200 (the Moto MING) and which, whilst looking virtually indistinguishable from the A1200 MING – and featuring the same QVGA 2.4″ display – comes with a somewhat expanded feature set including widget support.

The Motorola A1200R, which comes pre-loaded with six of the aforementioned widgets taking in applications such as weather reporting, calculator and calorie counter (more can be added), like its predecessor, runs on the Linux OS but manages to pack in a number of (very much business orientated) extras such as a business card scanner utilising OCR technology working in conjunction with the A1200R’s built-in two megapixel camera whilst also offering up support of MS office applications such as Word and Excel.
Further features of note include an FM tuner, media player functionality courtesy of Real Media Player and Bluetooth wireless connectivity.
The Motorola A1200R, which will come bundled with a 1GB memory card, is destined initially for the Argentinean market with a wider Latin American release purportedly following thereafter, however, at this stage Motorola are yet to confirm an exact release date or unit pricing.
