asus my cinema ehd3 100 pci express dual tv card

Last month we featured the new Asus Express TV Stick Hybrid and now Asus have another item of PC TV tuner hardware vying for your attention, though this time it’s a PCI-express device as opposed to a USB dongle, in the form of the Asus My Cinema-EHD3-100/NAQ/FM/AV/MCE RC PCI-express Dual TV Card – the title of which even gives our often as not somewhat extended post titling conventions a serious run for their money (respect).

The Asus My Cinema EHD3-100/NAQ/FM/AV/MCE RC PCI-express Dual TV Card, which allows users to watch and record both analog and digital based broadcasts (NTSC and ATSC/QAM respectively) comes complete with integrated MPEG2 hardware based encoding functionality – thus serving not to overly burden your computer’s CPU – and, thanks to utilising the PCI-e interface offers data transmission speeds of up to 500MB/s in comparison to TV card that employ standard PCI slots which manage a mere 133MB/s – the result being particularly fluid video quality.

Asus detail their new PCI-e Dual Tuner TV card (you’ll excuse us for not reeling off the card’s full title on this occasion) as follows:

  • Utilizes the PCI-Express port for faster data transmission
  • Enhances multitasking through an in-built hardware MPEG2 encoder that significantly reduces CPU load
  • Delivers the best video quality through hardware noise reduction technology
  • Enables users to watch analog or digital TV (or digital TV through a standard coaxial cable) and record another channel, or record two different channels at the same time
  • Adds a convenient TV widget on the Windows Vista sidebar upon startup, powered by ASUS GadgeTV Technology
  • Comes with a remote control kit for easy channel surfing
  • Equipped with FM radio capabilities
  • Sports dual AV inputs for capturing external sources
  • Turns the PC into a private security system with ASUS VideoSecurity Online Technology

The new Asus PCI-e Dual TV card, which offers up both Windows Vista and Windows XP (SP2) compatibility, has yet to be priced or receive an official shipping date at this juncture, but if you’re looking for an internal TV card, it’s certainly one to watch out for.
