Back in January (yes, that far back) we covered an up and coming Polaroid instant (ZINK) camera that was expected to launch right about now and, right on time, here it is – complete with its official title – in the form of the Polaroid Two which brings together the capabilities of a digital camera (very much of the point and shoot variety) with the integrated convenience of Polaroid’s PoGo ZINK printer housed in one tidy and decidedly pocket friendly package.
The Polaroid Two offers 5 megapixel resolution with 4x digital zoom and a 3″ LCD display which, as far as (even rudimentary) cameras go, if far from exciting but it’s the Polaroid Two’s ability to print captured imagery directly at 300dpi via the camera itself – courtesy of the integrated PoGo printer using ZINK printing technology – that will be the camera’s undoubted draw.

Other key features include a timer, a range of scene modes (Auto, Manual, Landscape, Fireworks, Soft flowing water, Splashing water, Portrait Man, Portrait Lady), in-built red-eye removal and movie mode with sound and SD card compatibility which, if you’re looking for a basic point and shoot camera, ticks most (though not all – no face detection?) of the boxes.
Agreed, were this just a compact camera, we’d slate it for being a wholly dull affair but we can, and will, forgive its somewhat basic features in light of the fact that it’ll happily reel out hard color copies of your images directly and, besides, it’s a Polaroid – and a new, modern take on their instamatics – and that alone is cause for celebration.
The Polaroid Two with integrated PoGo ZINK printer can be pre-ordered in the UK as of now for around 230GBP.
(UPDATE: The guys at TechFresh have let us know that the Polaroid Two is also now listed as available to pre-order on Amazon (US) for just shy of $200 – thanks guys)
