RunCore have unveiled their new Pro IV 2.5″ SATAII solid state drive which are billed as featuring the world’s fastest MLC SSD allowing the Pro IV range of SSDs to ‘offer superior random read and random write speeds compared to the other main stream SSD on the market today’.

Offering purported read speeds of up to 240MB/s and write speeds up to 160MB/s, the new RunCore Pro IV solid state drives are set to come in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities and, interestingly, will come supplied with a drive case allowing you to backup your existing hard drive to the device externally prior to replacing the outgoing HDD with the Pro IV SSD – at which juncture the aforementioned casing will apparently accept your swapped out HDD which can be subsequently used as an external backup drive, should you wish.

The new RunCore Pro IV SSD range is set to retail from May 15th and will set you back around $180, $300, $600 and $1,000 for 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities respectively.
