Archos 2 PMP US Availability Imminent [Successor to Archos 105 at Last Official in US]

Although prospective purchasers in the US have been already able to pre-order the new Archos 2 portable media player, which serves to supersede the Archos 105 PMP, via Amazon it’s nice to see Archos at last get around to officially launching their new flashed based portable media player in the US with their new Archos 2 finally being listed via their online shopping portal.

The Archos 2, which measures in at a mere 9mm in thickness and which sports a 1.8″ 128 x 160 resolution display, comes in 8GB and 16GB capacities with additional capacity being facilitated thanks to an integrated microSD card slot and offers MP3 and WMA file format support as well as built in FM tuner as well as voice recording capability, allowing for voice memos, and comes in both black and white (no pink, as yet).

The 8GB Archos 2 is set to retail in the US for around the $60 price point whilst the 16GB Archos 2 should come in at around $100 though its interesting to note that Amazon, unlike Archos’s online shopping portal (which merely lists the device as ‘coming soon’), already list the Archos 2 as available to pre-order though, as yet, an exact shipping date is unavailable.
