
Shuttle have announced the immediate availability of their new 15.6″ Atom 330 powered Shuttle X 5000TA nettop all-in-one PC, which in essence is the European version of the Shuttle X50 – across Europe.
Billed as a ‘blend of energy-saving technologies and an innovative operating design’, the Shuttle X 5000TA nettop, which boasts a depth of just 36mm, sports a 15.6″ 1366 x 768 resolution touchscreen display with integrated chromed anti-slip pedestal (which additionally serves as a carrying handle), 1GB RAM, 160GB hard disk, 1.3 megapixel webcam, gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi b/g/n connectivity and, interestingly, whilst sporting integrated stereo speakers additionally offers 6 channel audio output (VGA-out connectivity allowing you to hook up external monitors is also in evidence).
Additional highlights include 5x USB 2.0 ports, built-in card reader, Kensington-Lock and VESA mounts on the back of the device (allowing for the device to be wall mounted with ease) whilst, in terms of cooling, thanks to a heatpipe Cooling System the Shuttle X 5000TA’s fanless design serves to keep operational noise to the absolute minimum.

“Compact, power-saving All-in-One-PCs open up new and interesting application areas whether as a second PC for fast internet access, as part of a home automation system, for IP/videotelephony or for the next generation to obtain their first computer experiences”, said Tom Seiffert, Head of Marketing & PR at Shuttle Computer Handels GmbH, who introduced the Shuttle X 5000TA. “The possibilities for these devices are also becoming increasingly apparent in the business sector; for instance information can be displayed at the POS and finger-based or stylus inputs can be made.”
The Shuttle X 5000TA nettop, which runs the Windows Vista Home Basic OS, is available as of now either directly via Shuttle or specialist vendors and will set you back just short of 500EUR. Additionally, Shuttle have advised that the Shuttle X 5000TA is also being made available as the Shuttle X50XA which, according to shuttle’s press release, offers ’similar configuration just without operating system and 24 months of Bring-in warranty service’ which will set you back 419EUR (both prices exclude VAT).
