Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH1 Set To Hit Japan

According to a report by Impress, the mightily sexy, Micro Four Thirds Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH1, which comes with a 12.1-megapixel 4/3-type Live MOS sensor and which offers Full HD (1080p) video capture at 24fps in AVCHD format, is set to hit the Japanese market next month.

Billed as enabling ‘a level of image expression that never before existed’, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH1, which is powered by the Venus Engine HD image processor, apart from looking the business, comes with a 3″ LCD display offering Live View at an impressive 60fps and offers high-resolution Full HD 1920 x 1080 movie capture at a fluid 24 fps as well as 1280 x 720 video capture at 60fps – both in AVCHD (MPEG-4/H.264) format – and is set to become available in black as well as gold and a particularly fetching red (but alas, not white – we’re thinking about just how good this limited edition white Pentax K2000 looks though, in fairness, the K2000 is not quite in the same league).

There’s no word concerning release dates outside of Japan at this juncture, unfortunately, however, if you happen to be a Japanese reader the date for your diary is April 24 whilst, in terms of pricing, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH1 will set you back the equivalent of a cool $1,500.
