According to a report by MobileToday, Orange are well advanced in negotiations with Apple with view to offering subsidised MacBooks in the UK to customers who sign up for their 3G service as part of a mobile broadband deal.
Orange are, predictably, remaining tight lipped at this stage, choosing neither to confirm nor deny speculation, however it’s being reported that Orange have been testing their USB 3G mobile dongles with the latest Apple MacBooks and that they have indeed placed what is referred to as a ‘volume commitment’ with Apple with view to offering MacBooks bundled with their USB mobile dongles some time this summer. This, in turn, should the report prove founded, will lead the way for a future distribution deal whereby MacBooks with integrated mobile broadband connectivity – courtesy of embedded SIMs – could be offered.
We’ll keep you posted.
