AIS Intro New PC-IA160 Rugged Tablet PC Models [To Ship via Avnet Technology Solutions]

American Industrial Systems have introduced a new range of AIS PC-IA160 Rugged Tablet PCs, which adhere to Military 810F shock, vibration, and drop standards as well as offering IP54 compliance in terms of dust and water protection, which are due to commence shipping via Avnet Technology Solutions.

The new range of AIS PC-IA160 Rugged Tablet PCs, which sport rugged Alu-Mg alloy housings with protective rubber finishing, come in three screen sizes – specifically 8.4″, 10.4″ and 12.1″ TFT LCDs (the former offering two offering a maximum resolution of 800 x 600 whilst the 12.1″ variant tops out at 1024 x 768). Naturally, in being a tablet PC, it goes without saying that the displays offer touchscreen functionality.

Powered by Intel’s stupendously popular Atom N270 CPU running at 1.6GHz, standard features include up to 2GB DDR2 RAM, integrated 802.11b/g WLAN, Bluetooth, 2.5″ 80GB HDD (though an SSD option is also available) whilst WWAN (GPRS/GSM/CDMA/UMTS/EDGE) and GPS functionality is available via optional PCI Express bolt on cards. Additionally, AIS state that the devices utilise six cell Lithium-Ion battery packs though, interestingly, we cannot establish battery endurance.
