msi wind u115 hybrid netbook

Many manufacturers make bold claims when it comes to their products (they want to impress you, naturally) and this is especially the case when it comes to notebook/netbook battery life. So when MSI stated that their new MSI Wind U115 Hybrid netbook could run for 10.5 hours on a single charge you’ll excuse our scepticism. However, thanks to a battery test run by the German site EEE-Pc.de it transpires that the MSI Wind U115 Hybrid netbook not only matches the touted endurance but actually managed to exceed it – and not by a small margin.

The test in question was run with the screen at 30% brightness whilst running the SSD (not the HHD) – the MSI Wind U115 Hybrid netbook employs a combination of HHD and SSD to conserve power requirements – and with the device’s Wi-Fi switched off, however, in being run via Battery Eater Classic the test did ensure that, quite apart from sitting dormant, the netbook was running under strain with both the low power Intel Atom Z530 CPU and the graphic card being put through their paces.

So, the final outcome? It’s impressive, certainly, with the MSI Wind U115 Hybrid netbook finally running out of a single charge worth of juice after an astonishing 13 hours and 15 minutes of operation (which makes out laptop’s endurance look positively terrible – which, in fairness, it is).

More that a full working day’s worth of endurance from a single charge? Very impressive. Kudos to MSI, especially considering that they state that Wind U115 Hybrid’s endurance is actually under that actually achieved in this independent test.
