PCI Express SSD Billed as Fastest SSD, Ever

fusion-io-iodrive-duo-ssd

We’ve seen many figures bandied about when it comes to SSD read/write speeds with many a company hailing their latest SSDs as offering blisteringly quick data transfer speeds that outstrip that offered by the competition, but nothing gets close to the newly announced Fusion-io ioDrive Duo SSD which Fusion-io bill as being the fastest and most innovative SSD this planet has ever seen (and its not a claim they make lightly).

Aimed specifically at server side operations, to say that the PCI Express based Fusion-io ioDrive Duo SSD is fast is akin to saying that the Bugatti Veyron can ‘get quite a move on’ so, if you’re sitting down, how does a sustained write speed of 1.5Gbytes/sec paired with a sustained read speed of 1400MB/sec grab you?

The Fusion-io ioDrive Duo SSD is set to become available in 160GB, 320GB, 640GB and 1.28TB capacity variants and, whilst pricing information is yet to be released, you’d be right in assuming that SSDs with such staggering performance will come at top dollar prices.
