Whilst one could ague – and we’d need no convincing – that the last thing we need right now is yet another netbook, OCZ Technology has opted to jump on the bandwagon and come out with a netbook of their own, known as the OCZ Neutrino, which, whilst packing the all to familiar 1.6GHZ Atom processor (yawn), at least brings something more interesting to the table in coming in standard and DIY variants.
What this basically boils down to is this. Those looking for an ‘off the shelf’ fully configured netbook will be catered for (see below) whilst those looking for a little more control and who aren’t afraid to get hands on/down and dirty will be able to chose from a series of validated components comprising of HDDs, SSDs, RAM, etc with view to assembling their own Neutrino netbook according to personal preference.

Of course, as noted previously, OCZ are aware that many will be looking for a fully configured netbook and, to that end, the ‘off the shelf’ OCZ Neutrino will offer you pretty much exactly what you’d expect such as the aforementioned Atom CPU, 10.1″ 1024 x 600 display, integrated Wi-Fi, 1.3 megapixel webcam, up to 2GB RAM and a choice of Ubuntu or Windows XP operating systems.
At this juncture there’s no official word on pricing – OCZ merely stating that their netbook will be priced ‘competitively’ – however OCZ have confirmed that the Neutrino will be available between two and three months from now.
