First details have just emerged concerning Sony’s decidedly stylish (read as: black, glossy, minimalist) CMT-Z100iR iPod/iPhone/Touch Micro Component System which boasts an S-MASTER digital amplifier, two way bass reflex speakers, touch panel controls and which can either be placed free standing or wall mounted.

The Sony CMT-Z100iR comes with integrated CD player (which, we assume, takes in all possible formats including MP3 CDs), as well as packing an iPod dock, audio-in connection (for additional AV equipment such as CD players, PMPs, et al), USB port for playing audio files directly from USB flash drives and digital AM/FM radio tuner.

Reportedly offering 2x20W output, there’s no official word from Sony confirming any of the above at this stage, but we suspect we’re not alone in waiting for Sony to spill the beans as the CMT-Z100iR is undoubtedly a beautifully styled device that puts many an iPod dock to shame.

The moment we gain official details you can count on us following up with an update, not least because, on first impressions at least, we quite fancy one ourselves. Stay tuned.
