Video: Mentalists Cover MGMT’s ‘Kids’ Using just iPhone/iPod Touch Applications

If you own an iPhone or iPod Touch you have, quite probably, dabbled at some point with one or more of the many musical iPhone/iPod Touch applications – personally I managed to recreate Kraftwerk’s entire back catalogue in one evening doing just that, but I don’t like to blow my own (virtual) trumpet, so the speak – but now UK girl group the Mentalists have taken things one step further by performing a cover of MGMT’s track ‘Kids’ live using just downloaded iPhone/iPod Touch applications with a little (reasonably harmonic) vocal accompaniment.

Before you delve into the video of the Mentalists in action, and just in case you’re thinking of forming your own group playing solely touchscreen based instruments, you might like to know that the specific applications used are Ocarina, Retro Synth, miniSynth and DigiDrummer Lite – all of which are currently available via Apple’s App Store.
