Whilst, personally, I’m eagerly awaiting further details concerning Nikon’s P90 and the Olympus SP-590UZ (which offer 12.1MP/24x and 12MP/26x optical zoom respectively) those who are looking for a compact digital camera with extended zoom capabilities may be interested in Kodak’s newly announced EasyShare Z915 which sports a 10 megapixel sensor paired with 10x image stabilised zoom lens.
The Kodak EasyShare Z915, which offers the convenience of running on AA batteries, like the aforementioned cameras, offers point and shoot simplicity whilst also offering those looking to get a little more involved the ability to do so in offering PSAM modes whilst also offering Kodak’s Smart Capture and Kodak’s Perfect Touch technology – the former allowing the camera to determine the best settings for any given situation – or, as Kodak’s press release puts it, to deliver ‘beautiful pictures automatically’ – whilst the latter serves to ‘enhance highlight and shadow areas’.

Sporting a 2.5″ LCD display, the Kodak EasyShare Z915 is billed specifically as being ‘a versatile camera that’s ideal for families on the go, making it ideal for consumers who want more zoom but don’t want a bulky camera’ and, whilst a full spec sheet is yet to be made available, Kodak have confirmed that the EasyShare Z915 will accept SD/SDHC memory cards and will be offering in red, blue, black and grey for around the $200 price point around April.
The moment we can get out hands on a fully detailed list of specifications and features, we’ll endeavour to update this post accordingly.
