If you’re looking for a decidedly wallet friendly netbook and can reel in your expectations accordingly, then the newly announced Fidelity Electronics VPC Netbook (VPC standing for Very Personal Computer), which very much harks from the lower end of the entry level spectrum, may be of interest.
Sporting a 7″ 800 x 480 (WVGA) TFT LCD display, the Fidelity Electronics VPC Netbook, which runs Linux, offers Wi-Fi b/g and Ethernet connectivity, comes with what would appear to be a 100MHz processor (unspecified), 2GB integrated storage and SD card slot and is billed in Fidelity Electronics’ press release as being ‘perfect for students and people on the go’.
Set to begin shipping in March, the Fidelity Electronics VPC Netbook, which comes with internet browser, spreadsheet, word processor, a media player for movies, music and pictures, e-book reader, dictionary, calendar, PDF reader, email, chat, calculator and file manager will retail at around the $200 price point.
