LaCie d2 8x External Multi-Format Blu-ray Burner [Write Speed Doubled]

LaCie have announced that it has doubled the burning speed of its previous high-capacity Blu-ray/CD/DVD writer, resulting in the LaCie d2 which offers a 8x writing speed for both single and double sided Blu-ray discs.

‘With the doubling of the speed to burn Blu-ray discs, video professionals will be able to spend more time creating content and less time on production,’ said Christelle Dexet, Multimedia Product Manager for LaCie, who introduced the LaCie d2. ‘And for those who need to safely store large quantities of information for extended periods of time on secure removable media, the LaCie d2 Blu-ray Drive is an ideal solution.’

Compatible with both PCs and Macs, the LaCie d2 is supplied with Easy Media Creator 10 and Toast 9 Titanium software and, apart from supporting MPEG2, AVC and VC-1 codexes (when burning Blue-ray discs) also offers broad compatibility with a range of DVD and CD formats including BD-ROM, BD-ROM AACS, BD-R, BD-RE, DVD+R, DVD-R, CD-R.

The LaCie d2 Blu-ray/DVD/CD burner has just become available from just shy of $450.
