The Eee Asus AiGuru SV1 is being billed by its makers as being the world’s first Skype-certified large-screen standalone videophone that does not need a PC for operating. The AiGuru SV1 has an easy-to-use intuitive icon-driven interface and its dimensions are – 202mm x 123mm x 253mm.

The cable-free rechargeable battery takes two hours to recharge and offers 20 minutes of talktime and 30 minutes standby time. The AiGuru SV1 also features a built-in 0.3 megapixel webcam, microphone, and speaker.

Because this phone offers cable-free charging and is 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi capable it makes a handy portable device that will work anywhere once you connect to broadband internet. This of course, only if you are keen to see the other person on a 800 x 480 resolution 7-inch display, maybe for videoconferencing purposes. Otherwise, it’s not a gadget that will fit into your pocket.

The AiGuru SV1is ergonomically designed and has a clutter-free user interface. The speaker is located at the bottom of the front panel. The device is hinged and can tilt 45 degrees so that you have freedom in lining up against the camera.

The videophone has 3.5mm headphone and microphone jacks for as well as a 10/100 Ethernet connection.
