QNAP today announced its latest NAS device – the TS-439. The TS-439 is an Intel-based NAS targeted at the business community. The device has 4 bays and can support up to 6TB of data. Support for external memory devices includes five USB ports and two eSATA ports. Thus, the device is capable of ensuring scalability and data redundancy. The TS-439 uses the Intel Atom 1.6GHz CPU which reduces power consumption.

RAID configurations include 0/1/5/6/5+spare. Online RAID capacity expansion and RAID level migration is supported. Security is taken care of by providing 256-bit volume-based encryption, automatic policy-based IP blocking, instant email alerts, etc. Another security feature of this product is the presence of four IP-based cameras for monitoring and recording activity.

The iSCSI target service with Thin Provisioning lets up to 8 iSCSI devcies to be created for the purpose of expanding storage capacity or for backing up of network servers. Support for the all-in-one XDove mail server means that SMBs can have their own mail server at a low cost. Server functions include file server, FTP server, DDNS support, Joomla, and more. The TS-439 server functions can be managed via Linux, UNIX, Mac, and Windows platforms.
