Panasonic, an important player in the rise of Blu-ray, further added to its contribution to the new standard in media players by announcing the arrival of the DMP-B15 at the CES in January. DMP-B15 is the world’s first portable Blu-ray player and it sports an 8.9-inch WSVGA LCD screen.
The product which will be available in May offers internet accessibility and BD-Live compatibility. Even though it is a portable player, the DMP-B15 promises high quality visuals thanks to the PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus technology used in it. The technology can reproduce studio colors faithfully with twice the clarity possible with conventional technology.
The DMP-B15 lasts three hours on a single battery recharge and can even be used as a standalone player connected to an HDTV. The player rests on a headrest, which is an optional accessory, for easy viewing while traveling. So, it opens like a laptop and you can view it like one or flip the screen completely and rest the player on a stand. An SD memory card slot is a handy addition that enables viewing of media stored on HD cards.
The DMP-B15 includes Viera Cast functionality which allows viewers to access online content from sites such as Amazon Video-on-Demand, YouTube; Google Picasa Web Album; and more.
