Nikon are set to add to there ceaselessly expanding COOLPIX range of digital cameras with two new entry level point and shoot compacts, the Nikon COOLPIX L19 and COOLPIX L20, which offer 8 megapixel and 10 megapixel effective resolutions respectively, 3.6x zoom NIKKOR lenses and both of which utilise Nikon’s EXPEED digital image processing technology.

Designed specifically to appeal to those that simple want to point their camera at subjects, press a button and get optimal results with the minimum of fuss both of Nikon’s new COOLPIX cameras comes with Nikon’s Scene Auto Selector as well as their Smart Portrait System, BBS (Best Shot Selector) as well pretty much everything you’d expect from compact point and shoot cameras such as motion detection, 12 point face detection (referred to as Face-priority AF), Smile Mode, Blink Warning and in camera red eye adjustment.

Capable operating up to ISO1600, both the COOLPIX L19 and L20 operate using AA batteries for maximum convenience, come with 16 scene modes, Flood Mode, D-Lighting and movie recording capabilities up to 640 x 480 resolution and come with a paltry 20MB of integrated storage capacity that can be supplemented with SD memory cards.

The Nikon COOLPIX L19, which will be made available in black, silver and the inevitable pink, will set you back around $110 whilst the COOLPIX L20, which will be made available in just dark red, will come in at around $130.

Both the Nikon COOLPIX L19 and COOLPIX L20 will commence shipping later this month (February ’09).
