Sony launched two new internet video cameras at the CES last month. The Sony MHS-CM1 and Sony MHS-PM1 Webbies attract attention because of their slick styling and bright colors. They also have the features to make them resourceful and fun gadgets to carry along on your outings to record MPEG-4 video and 5-megapixel still images. The 5X optical zoom is bolstered by a 20X digital zoom so you can capture images from a fair distance.

The Webbie allows you to capture images even in low-light conditions because of its built-in LED light. You can film in standard definition – 640×480/30p and hi-def – 1440×1080/30p. The two cameras offer five modes – Sports, Landscape, Low Light, Backlight and Auto. With the Picture Motion Browser (PMB) that comes pre-installed you can select the videos you wish to view on your PC and also share them on YouTube and similar sites. Audio playback is another feature with these cameras. The Webbies come to life as soon as you open the LCD display so save precious time.

A built-in lithium ion battery means you just have to plug the Webbie to a power source and once charged you have 85 minutes of operational time on your hands. You can add SD cards via the built-in Memory Stick PRO Duo media slot. A multi-A/V terminal lets you view images and videos across different devices. The MHS-CM1 camera is available for $200 and the MHS-PM1 will be available from April for around $170.
