Aimed specifically as Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) setups, the new Samsung SCX-4824FN/28FN all-in-one laser printer – which, as it’s ‘all-in-one’ status suggests, offers printing, faxing (inc. PC faxing), copying and scanning functionalities in a particularly compact single unit – has just become available which, aside from the previously detailed capabilities, also offers the ability to print directly from USB flash drives (by no means a revelation, but handy none-the-less).
Offering what Samsung term as ‘high performance and maximum speed versatile enough for a professional workgroup’ (should that be ‘workgroups’, perhaps?), the new Samsung SCX-4824FN/28FN all-in-one laser printer comes with integrated LED display offering functionality without PC intervention and is touted by Samsung as being capable of ‘up to 50,000 pages a month, at speeds up to 30 ppm’ – though quite what you do if you need more than 50,000 pages per month escapes us (are we being unfairly flippant here?).
With a first page print time of just 15.5 seconds whilst in sleep mode and a tray offering A6, A4, A5, letter, legal, folio, oficio, executive, ISO B5, JIS B5, 3×5, monarch, No. 10, DL, C5 and C6 paper size compatibility, the Samsung SCX-4824FN/28FN still manages an impressively small footprint in measuring just 445 x 411 x 395 mm.
Offering up to 1200 DPI ‘effective output’ (there’s a key word there if you go hunting for it), the Samsung SCX-4824FN/28FN can print at speeds up to 28 cpm (A4), or up to 12 cpm in letter format and, helpfully, Samsung offers nothing by way of pricing info. Still, lets be honest here, it’s hardly the most exciting of printers is it?
