The Plastic Logic electronic reading device uses an electrophoretic display on plastic to provide a reader. Other readers in the market include Kindle by Amazon and the Sony PRS-505 reader. These latterly mentioned readers have a glass surface whereas the approximately 450 gram, 8.5 x 11in touchscreen reader from Plastic Logic uses plastic substrates and electronic ink combined together using a technique borrowed from LCD manufacturing. This reader is powered by a version of Microsoft WinCE and offers a high 130-dpi clarity.

The reader is 7 mm thick and can be used for a week before recharging. You turn pages by swiping the touch sensitive screen with your finger.The company aims to target this reader at businesspersons who wish to store documents on an easy to carry reader so that these documents be they spreadsheets, presentations, minutes of a meeting etc, can be accessed easily. You can annotate using the reader’s touch sensitive screen. There is no concrete information on the pricing of this device which is slated for a late 2009 release.
