Toshiba are set to release two new Vardia digital video recorders to the Japanese market, namely the Vardia RD-G503 and the Vardia RD-E303 DVRs, which come with integrated analogue/digital tuners, offer DVD upscaling to HD and each of which, interestingly, come with two remotes (as if we didn’t already had enough) – one for general use and another to access full features.

The new Toshiba Vardia RD-G503 and Vardia RD-E303 DVRs come with 500GB and 300GB capacity hard disks respectively, and come complete with built-in DVD burner – allowing you to archive your favourite programme recordings to optical disk – as well as the facility to record in MPEG-2 TS and H.264/MPEG-4 AVC formats with the Vardia RD-G503 offering not just larger storage capacity but also a small display on one of the remotes allowing for at-a-glance program information (though this appears not to be in evidence in the product imagery we have come across).
Both Toshiba’s Vardia RD-G503 and Vardia RD-E303 DVRs are set for release in Japan next month and will purportedly retail for the equivalent of $770 and $660 respectively.
