corsair 128gb ssd

Just as rumours began surfacing concerning Corsair’s plans to enter with Solid State Drive (SSD) market an online portal has already put up a product page concerning a new Corsair 2.5” SATAII 128GB SSD – namely the Corsair CMFSSD-128GBG1D.

Information is a little sparse at the time of writing but the key fact and figures are available with Corsair’s new 128GB SSD, which uses an ‘OEM qualified Samsung controller’, offering a purported maximum sequential read speed of 90MB/s and a maximum sequential write speed of 70MB/s and a MTBF billed as being 100+ years (though based on what level of day to day usage is unknown).

At this juncture the new Corsair 128GB SSD which, as noted above, is offered for pre-order with no actual date of release specified, carries a list price of £326 (roughly $450 allowing for the present weak pound) which compares favourably with such as OCZ’s SSD’s – including their new lower-priced Apex SSD series (though the performance of Corsair’s drive, it has to be said, at least based on the figures provided, falls way short of that offered by OCZ’s Apex SSDs.
