It has to be said that, to date, every Android powered handset we’ve come across has offered all the style and aesthetic finesse of a particularly dull house brick and, in that respect, this new Android powered handheld mobile device – the CompuLab Exeda – could hardly be accused of breaking with tradition.

Insipid styling aside, however, the 520MHz Marvell PXA270 processor powered Quadband GSM/GPRS, CDMA and 3G UMTS CompuLab Exeda is undoubtedly a very capable device in offering a full QWERTY backlit keypad paired with a 3.5” VGA touchscreen display and a captive feedback touchpad as well as 128MB of built-in memory, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth V2.0 + EDR wireless connectivity as well as integrated 10/100Base-T Ethernet port, RS-232 port and 2 x USB.
Additional highlights include GPS, a 2 megapixel camera with flash (actually, at a mere 2MP that’s hardly a highlight), built in speaker and a high capacity 3000mAh battery offering (interestingly) an undisclosed endurance.
The CompuLab Exeda, which measures in at a not too considerable 4.9” x 3.7” x 0.6” (126 mm x 96 mm x 16 mm), is billed as due to commence shipping as of March with unit pricing being ‘published upon availability’.
