JVC UX-GN6 & UX-LP5 iPod Dock Micro Audio Systems

If you’re in the market for a new home audio system that’ll play ball with your iPod you may be interested in JVC’s new micro audio systems – the JVC UX-GN6 and the JVC UX-LP5 – which not only come with integrated iPod dock but also boast features such as gesture based wake from standby and what JVC refer to as ‘laser touch’.

The somewhat more feature-rich, and hence more expensive JVC UX-GN6 micro audio system, which comes with the aforementioned gesture based wake-up feature – allowing you to switch the UX-GN6 out of stand-by mode simply by waving your hand in front of the unit, comes with two touch sensitive (‘laser touch’ in JVC press release speak) control panels operating volume and CD player controls as well as what JVC simply refer to somewhat unspecifically as ‘other functions) which also offering a top mounted iPod dock. The JVC UX-GN6 additionally comes with video out, naturally, so you can view your iPod video content on a TV as well as a USB post allowing for the playback of music files directly from a USB flash memory drive.

Additional features include an AM/FM tuner, 120 watts of output and ‘a black glossy finish, with the main unit accented by blue illumination of the touch panel and laser touch operation’.

The rather less inspiring JVC UX-LP5 is not quite as forthcoming with features in offering a retractable ‘front flip’ dock for you iPod, a CD player and AM/FM tuner and just 70 watts of output. Incidentally (and notably) JVC’s press release goes to the extreme lengths to describe the door to the aforementioned front iPod ‘front flip’ dock’s door – ‘The dock is contained in a damped door that opens gently when pressed’ – which, if you read it the way we have, serves, if anything, to underpin just how many features there are on offer when it comes to the JVC UX-LP5 not to get excited about, unless you especially like dampened door mechanisms.

Both the JVC UX-GN6 and UX-LP5 iPod Dock Micro Audio Systems are due to begin shipping as of March 09 and will retail for just shy of $200 and $150 respectively.
