Pioneer has announced three BD-Live Blu-ray Disc players – BDP-120, BDP-320, and Elite BDP-23FD. All three models will offer full decoding and bit-stream output for hi-res audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Each model will be available with either an on-board memory or an expandable memory. All three Blu-ray players will be available April onwards.

The Pioneer BDP-120 is the entry level offering and will retail at $249. It will feature BD-Live capability; 1080p True 24 fps video output; internal audio decoders; HDMI 1.3a output; and more.

The Pioneer BDP-320 will ship for a suggested retail price of $399 and will feature 16-bit Deep Color support; Kuro-Link (HDMI-CEC) and Kuro component interoperability; bit length expansion circuit for mirroring the original color mastering as intended by the studios for the big screen; a Precision Quartz Lock System (PQLS) ensures smooth audio playback; plus other features.

The Elite BDP-23FD will retail for $600 and as per the company statement is “designed exclusively for the custom-install market.” The BDP-23FD comes with an internal memory of 1Gb for supporting BD-Live content and an additional USB storage port.
