The Ford Sync Version 3.0, essentially a navigation system, is the latest in line from the Sync series. It comes with vastly expanded functionalities at the core of which is Bluetooth capability. When paired with a Bluetooth mobile phone, the Sync 3.0 offers data via the voice channel on almost everything that a traveler would wish to know – traffic conditions, weather, and even business search. The information is made available via the Ford Service Delivery Network.
All Ford models will come equipped with the Sync 3.0 from 2010. Europe will also see the launch of Sync in 10 languages in 2010. For the first three years, car owners can avail the service free of cost. Since the information being offered is present in an external server, new apps can easily be added and Sync-equipped cars can benefit from them. All you need to do is to download an update file from SyncMyRide and add it to the Sync 3.0 device via USB. A drawback of Sync 3.0 is that it does not offer backward compatibility since the earlier versions of Sync did not come pre-installed with a GPS chip.

With the latest release of Sync, Ford plans to take in-car connectivity to a new level – primarily through beamed-in connectivity from a satellite, brought-in connectivity from a cell phone, and built-in connectivity such as on the dashboard.
